WHY HAIR THINS

Why hair thins — and where KeraLase™ targets the biology.

The same causes that drive thinning — hormonal shifts, medication effects, dietary factors, stress — affect the scalp environment and the follicle's ability to stay in the active growth phase. KeraLase™ addresses this at the scalp level: preparing the surface with microchannels, then delivering a concentrated growth-factor serum into the Telogen-phase follicles where it can have the most impact.

Particularly suited to patients who prefer a non-injection approach or those pairing KeraLase™ with PRF for a comprehensive scalp protocol.

Hormonal shifts

Pregnancy, childbirth, and hormonal medication changes are among the most frequent causes of diffuse thinning — particularly in women. The hormonal disruption pushes follicles into Telogen prematurely, causing wider shedding than normal. KeraLase™ supports the scalp environment as follicles cycle back toward Anagen.

Medication effects

Certain medications — including beta-blockers — can disrupt the growth cycle and increase shedding. KeraLase™ does not address the medication cause directly, but may support scalp health during and after the disruption.

Diet & nutritional factors

Low protein intake, crash dieting, and iron deficiency are common dietary triggers for increased shedding. Addressing the underlying nutritional cause alongside scalp treatment gives the best chance of meaningful improvement.

Stress, illness & other factors

Telogen effluvium — diffuse shedding triggered 2–4 months after a stressor — is one of the most responsive patterns to scalp treatment, as the follicles are intact and the disruption is temporary. KeraLase™ may support the scalp as it recovers.

Why it works for you

Matched to your concern. Not a generic formula.

KeraLase™ combines laser scalp preparation with targeted growth factor delivery — addressing the scalp environment to support follicle health. The right candidate has active follicles that can respond to an improved scalp environment.

Ideal For

  • Diffuse thinning across the scalp
  • Patients preferring a needle-free approach
  • Post-partum or hormonal hair shedding
  • Pairing with PRF for comprehensive scalp treatment

Does Not Treat

  • Complete alopecia — specialist referral
  • Scarring alopecia — specialist referral
  • Advanced male pattern baldness — discuss at consultation
  • Patients with cold sore history — inform provider (antiviral prep may be needed)

The laser does the prep work

The LaseMD creates microchannels in the scalp — increasing the absorption of the KeraFactor serum by 5–7× compared to applying it topically. The laser doesn't treat the hair; it prepares the scalp to receive the treatment.

KeraFactor reaches where topicals can't

The proprietary KeraFactor serum contains a blend of growth factors and skin proteins — delivered directly into the scalp via the prepared microchannels where it can have the most impact.

No needles. No blood draw. No downtime.

KeraLase™ is well-suited to patients who want a scalp treatment without injections. Treatment takes 45 minutes, and you can return to your day immediately. Hair should be clean and dry at your appointment.

Your Treatment Journey

What to expect at every stage.

  • Please arrive with clean, dry hair.
  • If your hair is wet from sweat, styling products, or water, the treatment cannot be completed and will need to be rescheduled.
  • The scalp is treated in sections with the LaseMD to create microchannels.
  • The KeraFactor serum is then massaged into the scalp. This feels gentle, relaxing, and slightly cooling — essentially an included scalp massage.
  • Treatment takes 45 minutes. No numbing required — no needles involved.
  • Avoid lotions, creams, hair dryers, and hair products for 6 hours.
  • Avoid sweating and exercise for 24 hours.
  • Avoid washing your hair for 24–48 hours (48 hours is better).
  • Short-term: mild redness at the treated area — resolves within 24 hours.

How it works

KeraLase™ vs PRF — two approaches to scalp health.

Both treatments aim to support scalp health and improve the appearance of thinning hair. They differ in mechanism, experience, and what they're best suited to. Many patients use both in a combined protocol.

  • KeraLase™: Laser microchannels + topical KeraFactor serum (5–7× deeper than topical alone). No needles, no downtime, 45 minutes.
  • Hair PRF Injections: PRF from your blood injected directly into the scalp. 1 hour including blood draw, 1–3 days mild tenderness.
  • Combined protocol: Often the most comprehensive approach — discussed at consultation.
01

Laser Prep

The LaseMD device treats the scalp in sections, creating microchannels that increase absorption of the KeraFactor serum by 5–7× compared to topical application alone. The laser prepares the scalp — it doesn't treat the hair directly.

02

KeraFactor Delivery

The proprietary KeraFactor® serum — a blend of growth factors and skin proteins — is massaged into the scalp immediately after. The microchannels allow it to reach the follicles at a depth that topical application cannot achieve.

03

No Downtime

Treatment takes 45 minutes from start to finish. No needles, no blood draw, no numbing required. You can return to your day immediately. Mild redness at the scalp resolves within 24 hours.

Questions & Answers

What patients ask before they book.

Do I need to have clean, dry hair?

Yes. If your hair is wet — from products, sweat, or water — the treatment cannot be completed and will need to be rescheduled.

Is it painful?

There are no injections. The LaseMD step feels like a warm, tingling sensation. The KeraFactor massage feels gentle and relaxing.

How many sessions do I need?

A series of 6 sessions, spaced every 2–4 weeks, is recommended. Maintenance sessions every 6–12 months sustain results.

Can it be combined with PRF?

Yes. Many patients use KeraLase™ and PRF in a combined protocol for comprehensive scalp treatment. Your provider will recommend the right approach at consultation.

How long do results last?

Results peak around 3 months and typically last 12–24 months. Individual results vary. Maintenance sessions help sustain the outcome.
