TREATMENT AREAS

Where can BBL Heroic™ help?

BBL delivers targeted light energy to specific areas where pigmentation, redness, and sun damage have accumulated. Select an area to understand what we address.

Face & Neck

The most common treatment area. Addresses sun spots, uneven tone, redness, and fine texture concerns.

Face, Neck & Chest

Extends treatment to the décolleté — where sun damage frequently accumulates and is often overlooked.

Extremities or Torso

Arms, legs, chest, or back. Particularly suited to addressing sun damage on areas with consistent sun exposure.

Hands (Add-on)

The backs of the hands show sun damage early. Treated as an add-on to an existing session.

Why it works for you

Matched to your concern. Not a generic formula.

BBL targets pigment-producing cells and vascular irregularities at the source — not the surface. Results develop as the treated pigment breaks down and is naturally cleared by the body.

Ideal For

  • Sun damage & age spots
  • Uneven skin tone & redness
  • Mild texture irregularity
  • Vascular lesions (broken capillaries)

Does Not Treat

  • Deep acne scars — see RF Microneedling
  • Volume loss — see Dermal Fillers
  • Skin laxity — see RF Microneedling
  • Deep pigmentation (dermal melasma) — discuss at consultation

Light, not heat — no downtime

BBL is an IPL technology, not a laser. There’s no heat damage to surrounding tissue, no ablation, no wound healing. Most patients return to their day immediately after treatment.

Pigment breaks down naturally

In the days after treatment, sun spots and lesions may appear temporarily darker before they flake off naturally. This is the treatment working — not a side effect. Be patient; don’t pick.

Results compound with a series

Many patients notice improvement after a single session. Optimal outcomes build across 3–6 sessions, spaced 1–4 weeks apart. Your provider tailors the cadence to your skin.

Your Treatment Journey

What to expect at every stage.

  • Stop blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils) 1 week before.
  • Stop topical exfoliants and retinol 1 week before.
  • Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner. Tanned skin may require rescheduling.
  • Allow at least 2 weeks since last neuromodulator or filler treatment, and 1 month since any laser or peel.
  • Arrive with no jewelry, a low-cut top, and bare skin (SPF is okay).
  • Protective eyewear worn throughout. The light delivers targeted pulses to the treatment area.
  • Some warmth or a mild snapping sensation is normal. Cool compresses available for comfort.
  • Day 1–2: skin may feel tight and dry. Pigmented spots may appear temporarily darker — this is expected.
  • Day 3–7: darkened pigment begins to flake off naturally. Do not pick at or exfoliate.
  • Avoid makeup for 24 hours. Use a gentle cleanser and physical SPF only. No exercise or excessive heat for 48 hours.
  • Avoid facials, peels, and microdermabrasion for 2 weeks.
  • Do not expose treated skin to direct sun for 14 days. The area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change during this period.

How it works

Targeted light energy. Pigment breaks down. Skin clears.

BBL (BroadBand Light) is an intense pulsed light technology — not a laser. It delivers specific wavelengths of light that are selectively absorbed by melanin in pigmented lesions and haemoglobin in vascular irregularities. The targeted cells absorb the light energy, break down, and are gradually cleared by the body’s natural processes. The surrounding tissue is unaffected.

This is why the skin may look temporarily darker in the days after treatment — the pigment is breaking down before it flakes off. The process is working exactly as intended.

WHAT SETS THE SKIN CLINIC APART

BBL is IPL — not a laser. That distinction matters. Many patients arrive having been told they’re receiving a “laser treatment.” BBL is broadband light — a more targeted, less aggressive modality that delivers results without the ablation or recovery time of true laser resurfacing. The correct term matters because it sets realistic expectations for what happens during and after your session.

  • Selective photothermolysis: targets pigment and vessels without damaging surrounding skin.
  • No wound healing required — no ablation, no scabbing, no extended downtime.
  • Results develop as the body clears treated pigment over 1–2 weeks.
  • Compounds with a series — each session builds on the last.
ONE PLATFORM. THREE TREATMENT MODES.

BBL Heroic™ is a single platform with multiple treatment modes.

Each mode uses different wavelengths and settings to address a different concern. Your provider selects the right mode at consultation.

BBL PHOTOREJUVENATION

Targeted light for pigment, redness, and sun damage.

The primary treatment mode. BBL Photorejuvenation uses broadband light to target excess melanin in sun spots and age spots, and haemoglobin in vascular irregularities. No downtime — pigment breaks down naturally in the days after treatment.

None Downtime
30–60 min Session time
Starting at $650 Per session (face)

Best For

  • Sun spots & age spots
  • Uneven skin tone and redness
  • Vascular irregularities (broken capillaries)
  • Patients wanting results with no downtime
SKINTYTE™

Tighter, firmer skin — using infrared light, not surgery.

SkinTyte™ uses light energy to gently heat the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen remodelling and improving the appearance of mild to moderate skin laxity. No incisions, no downtime — the same BBL platform, different wavelength settings targeted at structural tightening rather than pigment correction.

None Downtime
30–60 min Session time
Starting at $600 Per session

Best For

  • Mild to moderate skin laxity (face, neck, jawline)
  • Neck tightening and crepey skin
  • Body skin tightening (arms, abdomen)
  • Patients wanting non-surgical firming with zero downtime
FOREVER CLEAR® ACNE

Light-based acne treatment — targeting bacteria, inflammation, and redness in one session.

Forever Clear® combines multiple wavelengths of BroadBand Light in a single session to address active inflammatory acne. This treatment supports healing and promotes clearer skin over time. The combination addresses the acne cycle at multiple points simultaneously.

Questions & Answers

What patients ask before they book.

Is BBL the same as a laser?

No. BBL is BroadBand Light — an intense pulsed light (IPL) technology. It is not a laser. The distinction matters for both your expectations and your recovery.

Will I have downtime?

Most patients return to normal activity immediately. There is no wound healing. Skin may feel tight for 1–2 days and pigmented spots may darken before flaking off naturally — this is the expected process.

Why do spots look darker after treatment?

Treated pigment absorbs the light energy and darkens before it breaks down and clears. This is the treatment working correctly. Allow the process to complete naturally — do not exfoliate or pick.

How many sessions will I need?

Many patients see improvement after a single session. Optimal results typically require 3–6 sessions. Your provider tailors the frequency to your skin.

Can BBL be used on body areas?

Yes. Arms, legs, chest, back, and hands can all be treated. Your provider selects the appropriate settings for each area.
