When will I see the results of my Skinpen microneedling treatment?

Many patients will see healthier-looking skin immediately, but damage to dermal collagen that has occurred over a long period also takes time for remodeling to take place. It may be 3-6 months before you see the final results from your last session. However, the results will vary depending on individual factors.

What are the side effects of a Skinpen microneedling session?

The skin may appear red and flushed after the procedure, similar to moderate sunburn. The area being treated maybe a little more sensitive to the touch and feel tight. The redness should be gone within a few hours, and your skin will return to normal within 24 hours. After three days, there should be little to no evidence that the procedure has taken place.

Who should not have a Microneedling treatment?

Microneedling treatment is not recommended for patients with: keloid scars, scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities, a hemorrhagic disorder or hemostatic dysfunction, active bacterial or fungal infection.

Microneedling with Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is an excellent treatment. At The Skin Clinic, we use the most advanced microneedling tool – the SkinPen™. It is the very first FDA-cleared microneedling device.

Microneedling is a popular cosmetic procedure that uses 14 sterilized microneedles to micropuncture the skin, resulting in an increase of collagen production. A sample of blood will be collected then immediately placed in a centrifugation system to concentrate cells and growth factors up to 10 times higher than what’s typically found in whole blood.

This concentration of blood (PRF) is then applied to the face, and the microneedling device penetrates the cells and growth factors into various deeper layers of the skin to promote the regeneration process.

What should I do before my PRF Microneedling treatment?

Please be sure to hydrate the day of your procedure and eat before your appointment. How long does an Insta-Facial take?

Is there any downtime after a PRF Microneedling?

Treatments don't require much downtime, and you can usually resume your regular daily activities in about 48 hours.

Could there be any risks, side effects, or complications of PRF Microneedling?

PRF has minimal risks, though swelling, redness, firmness, asymmetry, itching, and tenderness may be present for up to 2 weeks. The use of cool packs may be used as needed AFTER 72 hours. If needed, acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be used according to package directions for discomfort following injection. Benadryl may be used according to package directions for itching. Benadryl can cause sleepiness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery.

What should I avoid after a PRF Microneedling?

After the area is treated, it should not be massaged or compressed unless otherwise instructed.
Please do not apply makeup for 24 Hours.
Do not exercise or conduct any other activity that could raise your core body temperature for 24 hours, including super-hot showers or getting into a sauna.
Do not get a facial massage, microdermabrasion, laser, facial, or peel two weeks after treatment.
Avoid heavy salt and alcohol intake for 24 hours following injection as it will increase swelling and bruising.
