What to do/not to do before
- Please come to your treatment with a clean face (SPF is okay!).
- Before or after your treatments, you should avoid alcohol for 24 hours to reduce the risk of extra bruising.
- Exercise and caffeine prior to treatment may increase your risk of bleeding or bruising.
- Please inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores.
Post-Treatment Info
What to do/not to do after
- Swelling, redness, firmness, asymmetry, itching, and tenderness may be present for up to 2 weeks. The use of cool packs may be used as needed.
- The day of your injections, sleep with your head slightly elevated to help reduce the amount of excess swelling.
- Do not or massage or put any pressure on the treated area unless otherwise instructed.
- Skincare and sunscreen may be used, but do not apply extreme pressure or do anything that may cause discomfort.
- Please do not apply makeup for 4 (minimum) to 12 (recommended) hours following filler injections.
- If lips were treated, please avoid all activities that could disrupt the filler for at least 10-14 days. This includes dental work, aggressive kissing, etc.
- Do not exercise or conduct any other activity that could raise your core body temperature for 24 hours following your injection.
- For two weeks after treatment, do not get a facial massage, microdermabrasion, laser, facial, peel, etc.
- While the effects of treatment are immediate, final results are noted after swelling has subsided and filler has settled (generally 4-6 weeks).
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be used according to package directions for discomfort following injection.
- Benadryl may be used according to package directions for itching. Benadryl can cause sleepiness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery.
- You may feel some lumps or bumps after treatment. This is normal and will resolve with time. However, bumps should not be visible.
- Small asymmetries are expected after treatment due to swelling. As swelling subsides asymmetries will resolve.
- Please report any severe swelling, itching, redness, drainage or increasing discomfort.
- Periodic touch-ups will help sustain the desired level of augmentation.
- It is possible that it can take up to 2 weeks for swelling and bruising to subside. If more filler is desired in an area of previous treatment, it will not be injected until at minimum 14 days after your initial injection.
- Avoid heavy salt and alcohol intake for 24 hours following injection as it will increase swelling and bruising.
