PDO Threads FAQs
A PDO thread lift is a non-surgical facelift that utilizes Polydioxanone (PDO) threads to tighten and tighten skin on the face. Through tiny needles, thin threads are inserted into the skin, after which sagging skin is tightened instantly. We may use 1-15 threads for a single section of skin.
The treatment only takes 15 to 30 minutes. After that, you are free to continue with your regularly scheduled activities for the remainder of the day.
Before treatment begins, the area is numbed by applying a numbing agent and a local anesthetic. The needles used during this treatment are so fine that they will not be painful. However, to ensure you feel no discomfort during treatment, we provide anesthesia.
After the numbing agent has taken full effect, your treatment will begin. The PDO threads are inserted with blunt tip needles called cannulas or sharp-edged needles. Once they have been placed correctly in the skin, it acts as a tight bowstring as the skin is lifted upwards. The excess threads are then cut off.
PDO thread lifts are non-invasive, which means there's not much you need to do ahead of your appointment. But there are some things you can do to make sure your treatment is a success. Following is a list of things to avoid one to two days before treatment:
- Avoid any alcohol
- Ginkgo biloba
- Omega-3 fish oil supplements
- Vitamin E supplements
- High-intensity exercise
- Saunas or Steam rooms
There is minimal aftercare required with this treatment. After a PDO thread lift, it is important to allow ample recovery time. The first two weeks should be without dental procedures and sleep on your back, so you don't put pressure on the treated areas.
